Villages of Hilltown

Hilltown Township was a farming community for most of its history. Farming villages dotted the township, providing post offices, stores and services to the surrounding area. Some of these villages have disappeared, blending into the suburban growth of the past century. Bob Moyer will continue his recollections of life in Blooming Glen, a nearly idyllic farming village. Bill Stahl will explore the long-ago villages along Hilltown Pike, from Line Lexington to Bishop’s Corner. Van Jurin will present ‘lost’ villages of Pennville, Point Pleasant, and how Silverdale and Dublin became boroughs, independent of Hilltown Township. Early photographs and maps of the villages will enhance the presentations. The audience is welcome to share their experiences living or visiting Hilltown villages.
